My life has passed away in heedlessness, and in diversion, and in loss.
-
And how wasted is what I have spent of my life throughout my days.
-
And I have no excuse for what I have wasted of my life.
-
How heedless we are of the duties of praise and gratitude [towards Allah].
-
Has Allah not favoured us with a month, what a tremendous month it is!
-
A month in which the Most Merciful sent down the noblest of all reminders.
-
And what month could resemble it, when within it is the Night of Decree?
-
How many authentic reports there are about the reward found within it.
-
We have narrated from trustworthy authorities that it is sought in the odd nights.
-
So glad tidings to the one who seeks it during these ten nights.
-
Within it the angels descend with light and with blessing.
-
And He has indeed said: “Peace it is until the rising of dawn.”
-
So preserve it well, for it is among the most precious treasures.
-
How many are saved within it from the Fire, while they themselves do not even realise.
